Anna & Johann July 20, 2013 Captain Flanders House, Chilmark, MA Wedding

I love the Captain Flanders House, it is one of my favorite places to shoot on Martha’s Vineyard. Anna and Johann had me there for two nights, their rehearsal dinner and wedding. It was nice to get to meet everyone the night before and to get a complete idea of how the ceremony would unfold. It was a beautiful day in a most beautiful place, how can it get any better than that?

Angela & Rob June 15, 2013 Thompson Island Boston, MA Wedding.

Angela and Rob’s wedding stands out as one of those weddings I didn’t want to leave at the end of the night. The location, an Island 3 miles into Boston Harbor, was just about the best you could ask for. You all know I am an island boy, so I may not be impartial here, but I love Thompson Island. It is so quiet and serene, yet you are looking directly at the City of Boston. Once the sun goes down, the city just lights everything up and you can just sit down on a lawn chair and relax. And the venue, wow, what a cool place. The venue sits in the middle of a former boarding school campus. Stately brick mansions fill the campus, which seems like a small town. They each got ready in separate buildings, and had their ceremony right on the shore. The reception was just steps away. What a beautiful setting.

Ada and Jeff  September 8,2012 Ceremony: Old Whaling Church, Reception: Farm Neck Golf Club

I love Farm Neck Golf Club, I grew up across the street. I have seen two Presidents of the United States golf there. The staff is probably the nicest you will find at a wedding venue anywhere. They are so laid back and fun. Ok, back to Ada and Jeff. They were laid back and fun too. They even let me take them to the beach in what was practically hurricane force winds to take some formals. I love it when couples let me talk them into doing less than desirable things in order to make amazing images.

The entire day was beautiful, starting with the Daniel Fisher house, where the bridal party got ready. I love the Daniel Fisher, it really represents old Edgartown in a way that not many other public places do. The ceremony was next door at the Whaling Church, which is well, the most old Edgartown-y building in Edgartown. We then drove in a 90 year old truck borrowed from the Winnetu Resort, down to the Inkwell beach for some great couples shots. Then it was off to Farm Neck for the reception. I really liked the way the tent was decorated, and the way the entire wedding was up and dancing by the end of the night.

Haley and Nate September 2, 2012 The Apple Farm, Philo, CA Wedding

What can I say about Haley & Nate’s wedding other than it was one of my favorites of 2012! I love traveling to new places to shoot, and this little Apple farm nestled in the Redwoods of Northern California was unlike any place I had shot at before. Everything was so lush and green, and the outdoor seating was built right into a wonderful and established garden. The guest list was short, and the wedding was intimate and perfectly tailored to the couple. Whenever a couple flies me across the country to photograph their wedding, I feel the pressure that much more to produce wonderful images and I think I was able to provide that for Haley and Nate and that makes me happy.

Debbie and Reuben August 26, 2012 Elm Bank Reservation, Wellesley, MA Wedding

This was my first Elm Bank Wedding, and I have to say, I LOVE the old mansion and all of the amazing gardens on site. Debbie went with a vintage theme for the flowers and decorations, which suited the venue nicely. Her flowers and decorations were so amazing I had a third photographer come just to shoot details. The ceremony was on-site at a wonderful old mansion overlooking a well established garden. A short walk away in another garden was the cocktail hour, with the reception being held in a clubhouse on the other side of the property. Event planner Alison Quill of Elegant Aura Events did a great job of keeping everything running smoothly. There was certainly a lot going on. They flew in from Miami, one of the few latin bands in the country well versed in traditional Jewish music to reflect the grooms Panamanian and Jewish Heritage. Needless to say, it was a very interesting wedding.

Allison and Kevin August 18, 2012 The Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm, Peabody MA

I am very happy the way this wedding turned out. The day started off cloudy, which was super helpful for great lighting during the getting ready photos. It then got sunny just before sunset for some really great couples photos. Allison and Kevin decorated the barn beautifully and I think this was one of the prettiest barn weddings I have seen in a while. I am very happy with the formals and couples photos despite having about 35 minutes to get everything done! When the caterer saw that I hadn’t kept anybody late, she gave me a big hug!

Allison and Diogo, July 28, 2012 Squantum Association East Providence Wedding

I did two weddings for the Diamond family in 2012, one for each sister, Allison and Lauren. Allison’s wedding was at a very pretty club in East Providence called the Squantum Association. Imagine an old time club where people are required to wear special coats with the club’s emblem on them while women in formal dresses hang out in the parlour, and you pretty much have described the Squantum Association. It definitely has that old southern New England feel to it and it quite pretty. Allison and Diogo held their ceremony outside on what started as a very lovely late July afternoon. About two minutes into it however, it started to rain… and then rain some more. I had to send Ryan running to the car to grab a large golf umbrella to keep me dry. There is a very funny pic on the TCP facebook page of him running in the rain. Everything ended up ok, some guests grabbed umbrellas and covered them up during the ceremony and then the rain stopped just long enough to take some great outdoor photos before the reception. Here are some photos I liked from that day:

Megan & Keith June 30, 2012 The INternational Gold Club Bolton, MA Wedding.

Megan and Keith’s wedding was a quintessential summer gold country club wedding. It was a good thing it was at a country club too since it was about 95 degrees that day and as humid as a terrarium. The day started at Megan’s house, where we were able to get lots of fun detail and getting ready photos, then off to church, and thankfully to an air conditioned country club. The staff at the INternational was very helpful and friendly (which is always a great thing) and the grounds are super pretty. Here are a few images that I like from that day.

Amanda & Dan. Wedding. Family Campgrounds. Whidbey Island, WA. August 13, 2012

I love travel and I Love weddings.

So needless to say, I had fun this weekend photographing Amanda and Dan’s wedding. I also was excited to experience a new island! I have to say, Whidbey is a cool island. I had never been to the Pacific Northwest before and it is amazingly beautiful there. Whidbey is a really cool place, and you can drive to it, or take a 10 minute ferry ride, so it is much more accessible than the Vineyard.

The wedding was on a large property owned by Amanda’s family. On the property are 2 rustic cabins and a breathtaking view of Useless Bay (yes that is its real name, and no it is really pretty, they call it that because it is shallow and therefore useless to boats.)

The two did everything themselves (well ok with the help of loving family and friends). Amanda’s sister did the floral arrangement with flowers purchased at Pike Place Market. Her cousin made dinner (Salmon of course) from fish he got at Pike Place. I am hoping it was thrown through the air first, however I was not there to confirm.

This wedding was pretty special for me because of all the personal touches it had. Also because it represented the love their family and friends have for them by coming out and helping create this amazing wedding. Most of their friends flew across the country to be there. Also it was special because I LOVE the pics!

Beach Family Portraits. South Beach. Martha’s Vineyard. July 30, 2012.

Some more fun beach portraits. hey I told you I had a busy July full of them! This was a group of 4 families who got together on the Vineyard for one big family vacation. Man, I wish I went on a trip like this when I was a kid. Well I guess technically I did all the time, since I lived on Martha’s Vineyard and so did all my family. BUT we never had ME to photograph all of us.
